School Holidays 2 - Rarotonga
Well its been a long tine between blog entries, the last one was the first school holidays, and this ome is about the second. There was a reason for that but that story is for a future entry. Guy has now completed two terms at school and for the 2nd school holidays we took a holiday in Rarotonga. We travelled over with our friends Karen and Richard and their two boys. Each family rented a house not far apart on the south coast of the island. Our house was next to the islands bread factory, the Turoa bakery, and the house owner dropped us off a loaf of fresh bread every morning. It was great, the sort of bread you have to eat in less than 24 hours or it get hards, no preservatives!
Rarotonga proved a wonderful place to go for a family holiday, big enought that there were things to do, but not so big that it became a hassle. Highlights for Jack were going for a scuba dive outside the reef and seeing sharks and moray eels, Katrina went for some Mummy-time by having massage, and Guy's highlight was learning to snorkel. He noticed the little fish in the shallow water where he was swimming, then picked up Jack's mask and snorkel, (we adjusted the strap) and then off he went, looking at the fish breathing through his snorkle and swimming for hours.
Beautiful sunsets, beautiful days, the best holiday we've had for a long time, and all the more enjoyable to be on holiday with friends.

Later we used the kayak as a dive tender and Richard swam out to the reef while Jack paddled the kayak with the two small boys. Out at the reef the boys lay on the kayak with their masks in the water. Guy got brave enough to slip over the side of the kayak and look at the reef while dangling from the kayak. He climbed back on again quickly though as the water was suddenly a lot deeper, (10ft!)
