Bumper Blog Action

We've been a bit quiet on the blog front recently, life is very very busy in our household and to compound the usual madness, Guy has been a sick little boy for almost a week now. We're not too sure what is ailing him, but he's had high temperatures and tummy pains, and has been very miserable. The two doctors visits haven't been able to pinpoint what's going on either. It's been a hard week for all of us. Hopefully Guy will be well enough to go to creche tomorrow.

So I have taken advantage of Guy being asleep to catch up on some blog postings for his fans.

Spring in Wellington

Spring lasted approximately 3 days in Wellington, and we've gone back to winter weather but fortunately we were able to get in a few trips to the Botanic Gardens while the gorgeous tulips were out during the Tulip Festival. Guy was very pleased with the gardens in full bloom and had a lovely time exploring all the sculptures that were part of the festival display.

And when it was time to leave the gardens, we had another one of the now-famous Guy tantrums. I find them all very amusing but Jack remains unimpressed (particularly at my attempts to photograph them) . . .

Can we fix it?

With the ensuite saga almost over (tilers due in last week but we are still waiting . . .), Jack had to do a bit of work before the plumber came to install the stainless steel shower tray (sniff, sniff, we had to take our lovely tiled one out) and he had a little helper. Guy discovered that there was a nice little pipe from the shower trap that could fit over the cistern pipe, and that kept him amused for some minutes.

Jack told Guy that he had to fix the bathroom and Guy said "no, Bob do it" and here he is trying to get Jack to stop fixing it so that Bob the Builder can get busy! Kidding, he really said that about Bob, but when Jack said that "Daddy will fix it" Guy thought this was all good fun and jumped on Daddy's back to help. Every now and again we hear a little voice singing "BOB (loudly) Builder (quieter). . . fix it" which just cracks us up. At least it's not that infernal Thomas the Tank Engine music because thankfully there are no words to that one!

"Play-gound Please"

Lately Guy has become obsessed with playgrounds and has a talent for spotting them at great distances. When he sees them he tells us excitedly "play-gound, play-gound". This particular day was no exception and we broke our usual Sunday routine and went to the Freyberg Beach playground along Oriental Parade. The impressive slide was quickly spotted by Guy and before Jack could slide with him, Guy had launched himself down fearlessly.

Shortly after the slide fun, Guy amazed us by showing off his monkey-skills (he has an uncle on either side who were both noted for their monkey-tendencies) by crawling along the bars all by himself with Daddy hovering to ensure all his teeth remained firmly in his mouth.

Then it was time to go and Guy did not want to go, so he threw a tantrum (another recent development). And what a big one it was, he was flinging himself backwards while on Jack's shoulders. It was actually very funny for both Jack and I and we had to do the 'walk of shame' with our small son bellowing and ensuring that everyone out on Oriental Parade knew of his displeasure! (And you can see that Daddy dressed Guy that morning!)

Ready, Teddy Go!

The girls from next door came to play with Guy on Sunday afternoon. Guy had woken up from a long afternoon sleep and decided to wear his Thomas dressing gown, (it's his favorite item of weekend casual wear) He was still clutching his teddy and one of the girls found a way to secure it to him, as you can see Guy thought this was brilliant.

He continued to keep teddy close all afternoon, even while helping Daddy warm up the motorbike engine after he'd given it a wash down.
