Oriental Bay

After So many cold winters day we got a beautiful sunny one two weekends ago and mounted this late aftrenoon excursion to Oriental Bay. Guy did some miles on his trike, then he stopped to watch some boys throwing a football on the sand. Then he decided he wanted to climb over the parapet and walk along the edge of the seawall, 5ft above the sand, while Daddy walked below waiting for a stumble that never came. Serious of gaze and sure of foot is Guy.

Earlier in the day while Katrina was out, he woke up from his midday sleep to have macaroni cheese in front of the the telly with Daddy. Here he is tucking into the macaroni while watching a really good bit of Bob the Builder. Guy also really likes the Bob the Builder theme music and does a little wiggle dance when it comes on at the start of the DVD.

Under my own Steam

We all enjoyed the break in the weather this last weekend, although cool around 9 deg C it felt quite balmy without the cutting wind and rain. Guy enjoyed it most of all, being able to run around outdoors under his own steam. Here he is legging it down the road after we visited the Ngaio Library on a Saturday morning. He knows Katrina is right behind him and he is chuckling to himself as he thinks he is outrunning her or maybe because he knows she is about to catch him.

Wide Wide World

Although it has been a particularly cold wet and stormy winter so far, this weekend was one of those days that make your realise you are living in one of the best places in the world. I like this photo because it is somehow timeless, just a small boy in a big world, although for the record it is;Guy, 18 months and a week old, looking west down our street , a little bit after 10am on a fine winters morning, 15th July 2007. Somehow I think it is a photo someone will look at in 30 years and say. "Wow look how small the houses and trees were, look how small his legs were! Just a moment in time that I was privileged to share. The good news is the weather has been fine enough to capture some good photos, I'll put them up this week.

In the Morning

Hard to believe but there are just no new photos of Guy worth publishing this week. He is still his happy little self, parrotting everything we say and chattering away to himself in between, but it has been so dark in the eveinings and stormy duriung the last few days that the photos have been rubbish. So I had a look back through my June photo collection and found these sunrises, mostly recorded as I headed off to work on my bike. We had a wonderful late Autumn that extended all the way into June and the shortest day. The last picture of the sun rising into an almost clear sky was taken at 08:00 on the shortest day of the year, the sun was down again by 5:00pm, office hours.

And at the going down of the Sun

And here are some sunsets from June 2007 too.
