Beachaven

On Sunday 6th March we had breakfast at Mission Bay with the other side of Jack's family. Guy has been very intersted in what people are eating and this morning he decided that Granny's Museli was just the thing, here he is determined spooning it in, I hope Margaret wasn't too hungry after he ate half her breakfast!

In the afternoon we went to visit Rob and Krista in their new house at Beachaven. it was a warm afternoon and Guy discovered he could chase his Daddy and uncles with the hose. Then we went down to Beachaven Beach. Although the tide was out Guy and his Uncle Rob had fun exploring the sandy mudflats and paddling.
Back at Granny's place, she found the old cane rocking horse that we bought in Singapore when Tony was about the same size. Guy, who loves to be in motion, thought it was just grand.

Extended Family

On the 5th March we travelled up to Auckland for a family BBQ prior to the wedding of Jack's cousin Josephine. The BBQ was a chance for all Jack's Uncles and Aunts and Cousins to meet up, as not all could come to the wedding, including us because we had to organise our own! Anyway it was really good to catch up with all the members of the family we haven't seen for a while, some of whom hadn't met Guy yet. He had a fabulous time in the big sand pit with his older cousins (technically second couisns) but as you can see he just fitted right in. He was riding on the little digger, and if you've seen his Grandad Pat on his 4wd motorbike you'll spot the resemblance.

Trike Riding

This week Guy has figured out how to move himself forward on his little plastic motorbike. This pleases him greatly and he rides it round and round the lounge and has even figured out how to lift the front wheel up the step and ride into the kitchen. His other achievements have been drinking out of an open cup by himself, although this requires supervision as he enjoys tipping any leftover water over himself, silly boy!

Cabbage Patch

When Guy gets older I'm sure he'll ask us "where did I come from?" In the time honoured tradition I will be able to tell him we found him in the garden underneath a cabbage! , and look here's a photo to prove it!
More sensibly Guy is turning into a little horticulturalist. He is never happier than he is when he's outside ('ossi' in his words) and when he's there he takes great delight in the flowers of all kinds ('flaas'). Everything he sees gets prodded with that little finger of his, even the fuzzy bumble bees.

Down By The River

Summer finally arrived in February and so did Katrina's cousin Sarah for 10 days before she could move into her flat. To keep cool we took a bush walk one Sunday down through the Otari Bush Reserve to the picnic area by the stream. It didn't take Guy long to detect running water and he was determined to be in it, trying to climb down the fern covered banks. He led Sarah out onto the bridge and squealed with delight when Jack dangled his feet in the water like a lure for eels. Below the bridge there was shingle bank and Guy tottered out to investigate the shiny wet rocks and rushing water. It's nice to be able to do all this about 1km from our house (as the crow flys).

Transport Official

Jack rides his mountainbike to work most days, and like a true transport safety official he always wears his dayglo vest. Guy is quite taken with Jack's vest and likes to wear it around the house. He also likes riding on the Wiggles car at the mall, and doesn't he looks just like Katrina when he's delighted in something!
